Super Combined Postponed, May bump Super G back

The men's Olympic super-combined has been postponed due to heavy snowfall on the course overnight, international ski chiefs announced Tuesday.

After several days of disruption to the programme due to adverse weather, mostly heavy snowfall on the men's and women's runs, the men finally opened the Olympic alpine programme with a downhill on Monday.
However the super-combined, composed of a downhill followed by a slalom, is now likely to be moved to Friday after further snowfall on the Dave Murray run.
Australian Jono Brauer is entered in the super combined but may have to withdraw due to ongoing complications with a knee injury; slalom's rapid, aggressive turns place extreme pressure on the knees.
A statement from International Ski Federation (FIS) officials said: "Due to heavy snowfall throughout the night and soft conditions on the lower track today's men's super-combined has been postponed."
If the men's super-combined is moved to Friday, as is expected, it will lead to already scheduled races being moved to other days, including the mens super G event, in which Brauer - who can still perform well in the speed disciplines as turning is not so rapid - and Craig Branch are competing.
The women's opening alpine race is the downhill on Wednesday.
Weather experts said Monday that after Tuesday morning's heavy snowfall a ridge of high pressure would likely bring optimal racing conditions to Whistler "for the next seven days" as of Wednesday.
It is the third scheduleld alpine race to be rescheduled due to the weather.
The women's super-combined was planned for last Sunday but has now been scheduled for Thursday.
The men's downhill was originally scheduled for last Saturday but was raced on Monday.
